The successful candidate will develop business plans and have experience in financial management and a passion for the theatre and cultural sector. The Art Business course has been written in consultation with external partners to ensure its value and currency. It has a direct relationship with Ikon gallery and Colmore Business District, ensuring there are live experiences for students in the profit/not-for-profit sectors. CV/application writing; social media and other platforms for self-promotion, presenting yourself and your work professionally using video and various types of presentation software. The first core module will introduce some of the definitions, systems and structures of the creative industries, and key debates that affect the sector and those working in it.

Over 2.9 million people work in the UK’s creative economy, which is worth £84.1 billion. It does include fine art and crafts, but it also includes other creative disciplines such as computer games design, creative coding, architecture, journalism, film and fashion. Steve Bulcock works across a range of digital media including animation, motion graphics and digital drawing systems. His research interests are concerned with challenging the notions and expectations people have in relation to their interactions with digital technology. As a BCU student, you will also have access to the Curzon library, with extensive opening times to facilitate flexible studying around your life. The building has a range of facilities available including studios, workshops, specialist art and design library, bookable spaces and lecture/seminar rooms. You should also mention your future plans – if you’re planning to take a year out, don’t forget to give your reasons. Talk about any subjects you’re studying that don’t have a formal assessment and any sponsorships or placements you’ve applied for.

Candidates with a non RICS-accredited degree will typically need to have five years’ industry experience before being eligible. The relatively small campus has a friendly, creative feel and benefits from recently refurbished workshops and studios, a reception area with a gallery, art shop and space, and the light and airy open-plan learning resources centre. This Art Business course is delivered by Kingston School of Art, which has its roots in the studio-based approach of Britain’s art school system .
